Asia Cup 2023 Schedule Announced: Date, Venue, Teams, and Squads..

Asia cup 2023 schedule

The Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17, 2023. The tournament will be a 50-over ODI tournament, with all matches played at international-standard venues. The 2023 Edition will feature two groups, with two teams from each group qualifying for the Super Four stage. The top two teams from the Super Four stage will then face off in the final.

The 2023 Asia Cup will commence in Multan with an opening match between Pakistan and Nepal. The tournament will feature six teams split into two groups: Group A includes Pakistan, India, and Nepal, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. The matches will be played in a fifty-over format, and the hosting responsibilities are divided between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Pakistan will host four matches at two venues, and the remaining games will take place in Sri Lanka.

A highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan in the round-robin stage will happen in Kandy on September 2, and a potential rematch during the Super 4 stage is scheduled for September 10 in Colombo.

The tournament is set to commence on August 30, with Pakistan taking on Nepal in Multan. Alongside this, three more matches will be held in Lahore, with one probably being a Pakistan Super 4 fixture on September 6. The remaining matches will be played in Sri Lanka, with three in Kandy and six in Colombo, including the final on September 17.

Asia Cup 2023 Format
  • The tournament format and groupings for the upcoming cricket tournament, announced on January 9, 2023, have set the stage for an exciting competition. The six participating teams have been divided into two groups of three each. A total of 13 matches will be played throughout the tournament, comprising six league matches, six Super 4 matches, and a final.
  • Group A consists of India, Pakistan, and Nepal. These three teams emerged as champions in the qualifier event, the 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup. On the other hand, Group B includes the defending champions, Sri Lanka, along with Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
  • During the league stage, each team in their respective groups will compete against each other. After the completion of the league matches, the top two teams from both Group A and Group B will advance to the Super 4 stage.
  • In the Super 4 stage, these four teams will face each other in a round-robin format. Each team will play against the other three teams in this phase. The teams with the highest points at the end of the Super 4 matches will secure their place in the final.
  • Ultimately, the top two teams from the Super 4 stage will meet in the much-anticipated final. The winner of this final match will be crowned the champion of the tournament.
  • The tournament promises to be an enthralling display of cricketing talent and skills as the teams battle it out to claim the prestigious title. Fans and cricket enthusiasts will be eagerly awaiting the matches to witness some competitive cricket action and see which team emerges victorious in this thrilling contest.

  • There are concerns about the availability of India’s middle-order batsmen, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, for the upcoming Asia Cup, which is scheduled to commence on August 30. Furthermore, it has been reported that Shreyas Iyer’s participation in the World Cup is also uncertain at this time.
    • The tournament will feature 13 matches in total. Group A consists of Pakistan, India, and Nepal, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. One of the highly anticipated matches is between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, which will be held on September 2 in Kandy.
    • The Asia Cup returns to the One-Day International (ODI) format after a gap of five years and serves as a crucial warm-up event for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India, scheduled for October and November. In the 2018 edition, India, led by Rohit Sharma, emerged victorious, defeating Bangladesh in a thrilling final by three wickets.
    • In the previous edition, held in mid-2022, Sri Lanka clinched the title by defeating Pakistan in the final, which took place in Dubai. The final for the 2023 Asia Cup is set to be held on September 17 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
    • The wait is over. The Asia Cup Schedule will finally be out today (Wednesday) at 7:45 PM IST. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will unveil the schedule. The BCCI vs. PCB tussle has pushed the schedule to be released this late. The tournament starts on August 31 in Lahore, with Multan also hosting two games. The Asia Cup 2023 will then move to Sri Lanka, where nine games will be played, including India vs. Pakistan.
    • After much delay, the full schedule of the 2023 Asia Cup is set to be announced this week. The development follows a meeting between the representatives of the Asian Cricket Council, which is headed by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, and the Pakistan Cricket Board.
    • The schedule for the Asia Cup has faced additional delays due to meetings between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) officials in Dubai on Sunday and Monday. The discussions centered around the possibility of hosting more matches in Pakistan and negotiating a higher share of revenue from the Sri Lanka leg of the Asia Cup 2023. Despite the new PCB administration’s acceptance of the hybrid model, they are now advocating for a revenue share equivalent to what the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) received from the UAE for hosting the T20 Asia Cup last year.
    • The highly anticipated Asia Cup matches between India and Pakistan will take place in Sri Lanka as the team led by Rohit Sharma has decided not to travel to Pakistan, according to Arun Dhumal, the Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
    • Dhumal, who is currently in Durban for the ICC Chief Executives Meet, confirmed that BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and PCB representative Zaka Ashraf met ahead of the ICC Board meeting, which is scheduled for Thursday, to finalize the schedule. The other three matches will be Afghanistan vs. Bangladesh, Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka, and Sri Lanka vs. Afghanistan. Pakistan’s only home match will be against Nepal, a relatively weaker team.
